About The Position
The RN-Virtual Nurse position at Ochsner Health System is a full-time role based out of the Elmwood Orthopedic Hospital in Jefferson, LA. This position is integral to the provision of patient care, utilizing the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The nurse will act as a leader in patient care, effectively delegating and directing licensed and ancillary team members while being accountable for quality patient outcomes. The role requires sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity in all interactions, and the nurse will maintain involvement in activities aimed at achieving the unit and department's strategic goals and objectives. The position emphasizes professional responsibility and accountability for nursing practice, supporting the company's philosophy of nursing. In this role, the RN will assess learning needs and implement appropriate teaching strategies for patients, families, and other groups. Effective communication, delegation, and management of nursing team resources are essential, as the nurse will serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. The RN will utilize data and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal patient outcomes, while also enhancing customer satisfaction and employee morale. The position requires adapting behavior to meet the specific needs of the patient population, ensuring respect for privacy and effective communication. The RN will also be responsible for remaining knowledgeable about current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements that apply to their responsibilities.
