About The Position

The position involves providing total comprehensive care to patients by applying the nursing process in an organized and systematic manner according to the Center’s policy in keeping with patient safety principles. Responsibilities include completing initial assessments, reassessing patient conditions, interpreting clinical data, and adhering to infection control standards. The role also requires acting as a patient advocate, managing the delivery of patient care, and communicating effectively with the healthcare team. The nurse will participate in discharge planning, document patient conditions, and maintain a safe and clean environment. Additionally, the nurse will manage care of post-anesthesia patients, respond to emergencies, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. The position requires flexibility in hours and responsibilities, as well as maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • New Jersey State Nursing License required.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred.
  • 2-4 years of nursing experience required; 5+ years preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations.
  • Experience with standard office equipment and technology preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with standard office technology in a Windows-based environment.
  • Knowledge of ambulatory post-anesthesia/peri-operative nursing practice.
  • Involvement in research and new equipment procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provides total comprehensive care to patients by applying the nursing process.
  • Completes initial assessments and reassesses patient conditions.
  • Interprets and utilizes clinical data in the plan of care.
  • Assesses patient for potential risk factors and intervenes to mitigate risk.
  • Acts as a patient advocate and upholds patient rights.
  • Administers medications correctly within defined restrictions.
  • Communicates proactively with the healthcare team regarding patient care.
  • Participates in discharge planning and initiates appropriate nursing measures.
  • Documents medication use and patient condition changes.
  • Maintains open dialogue with the management team and attends staff meetings.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of anesthesia agents and manages care of post-anesthesia patients.
  • Participates in the preparation of patients for surgery and ensures efficient patient movement.
  • Maintains knowledge of asepsis, infection control, and standard precautions.
