About The Position

Provide training and education to Springbrook staff ensuring that the healthcare needs of individuals receiving services are met. Responsible for providing professional support of employee health programs that support the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Promotes health and safety programs. Administer and track PPD’s for Springbrook ensuring compliance standard and promotes a safe work environment. Provides and tracks agency required employee vaccinations for the organization. To protect the safety of the individuals we support and staff, Springbrook requires new employees to be current on all recommended vaccinations, including but not limited to: COVID-19. This position will work collaboratively with Training and Nursing to ensure employees are prepared to support the individuals we service at Springbrook.

Requirements

  • Current certification/licensure by the New York State Education Department as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Training and presentation experience required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e-mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Access, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint; have the aptitude to learn other computer software as necessary.
  • Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 – 3 years OPWDD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all employees required to be Medication Administration certified are trained and evaluated per Springbrook and OPWDD guidelines.
  • Provide the OPWDD Medication Administration course at least once per month per Training schedule. Add additional training classes to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Schedule and provide training to staff in accordance with OPWDD regulations including, but not limited to: Universal Precautions, Epi-pen, Diabetes, G-Tube, Medication Administration
  • Medication error review and corrective action per policy. Error review ensuring staff are knowledgeable and prepared to provide appropriate supports and services.
  • Schedule and provide training to employees on other medical-related topics as defined by Springbrook.
  • Analyze agency Medication Error data to tailor the medication administration course and develop other training to improve the overall outcome and prevention of such medication errors.
  • Will administer all employee PPD’s per Springbrook’s policy and procedure; and, per New York State regulations.
  • Tracking agency required employee vaccinations using designated systems.
  • Responsible for ordering all supplies needed from designated pharmacy for employee PPDs and agency required vaccination clinic’s for Springbrook.
  • Collect and maintain record of Daily Employee Medical Logs
  • Must keep the non-patient order letter updated annually with our Medical Director, for both Tuberculin and agency required vaccinations for employees.
  • Will participate in the Springbrook Safety Committee.
  • Will attend scheduled nursing meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned.
