About The Position

The Translational and Clinical Research Centers at MGH is a 20-bed inpatient/outpatient unit that provides clinical and research care for patients 4 weeks through senescence. The research studies come from all specialty areas, including medicine, allergy/immunology, neurology, cardiology, pulmonology, and psychiatry. The unit is located on White 12 and 13 on the main campus of hospital Summary Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.

Requirements

  • BSN is strongly preferred
  • Must have current licensure as a registered nurse in Massachusetts.
  • at least two years of recent acute care RN experience is preferred.
  • Clinical nursing experience 0-1 year required
  • Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
  • Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
  • Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required

Nice To Haves

  • oncology and/or pediatric experience preferred
  • Must be able to work d/n rotation, and 2-3 weekend shifts/month, this position can be 32-36 hours/week

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
  • Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
