About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Surgical Step Down unit, providing specialized care to postoperative patients in a dynamic academic medical center environment. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality nursing care during night shifts to patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and intervention.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Active New York State RN license
- Current BLS certification (or willing to recertify).
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in an acute care facility.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- EPIC EMR experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess postoperative patients requiring intermediate care
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans
- Utilize EPIC EMR for accurate documentation
- Provide patient and family education
- Respond to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
