About The Position

Nestled on the Central California Coast, Adventist Health Sierra Vista has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center. Job Summary: Responsible for the pre and post operative/procedure care for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with a variety of health care needs and disease processes. Care includes technical skills, equipment, assessment, pre and post education and discharge in a fast paced environment. Minimum of one year experience in pre and post op diagnostic cath lab preferred. This position is represented by CNA.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree(A.S.) or equivalent: Required
  • Completion of a basic cardiac arrhythmia class with passing score: Required
  • Minimum 6 months experience in medical surgical nursing in last 2 years: Preferred
  • Current RN license in state of practice: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification: Required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Required within 6 months of hire or transfer: Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing: Preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience in pre and post op diagnostic cath lab: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Identifies common recurrent patient problems, symptoms and behavioral changes using standards of care 95% of the time.
  • Recognizes symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress or other impending emergencies 100% of the time.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge/skill in the care of patients during post operative phase two recovery.
  • Accurately interprets ECG rhythm and manages care of patients during life threatening emergencies in populations served.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and application, able to make recommendations for best monitoring based on patient presentation.
  • Understands and follows chain of command per policy.
  • Reviews medical history, physical examination, nursing care plan and all available assessment data 95% of the time.
  • Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports it to the appropriate person 95% of the time.
  • Delegates patient care tasks to ancillary personnel based on individual competency and scope of practice.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care performed.
  • Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal oriented care plan for each pt in collaboration with members of the health care team and provides care based on that plan.
  • Educates patients and/or their families regarding care.
  • Uses teaching methods appropriate to the age, condition, culture, and assessed learning-readiness of the patient.
  • Completes legible, accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care provided, including evaluation of patient's response to medications, treatments & procedures.
  • Consistently performs necessary unit specific safety & quality control checks (i.e. Shift and 24hr MD order checks, VO/TO Read Back, crash cart checks, urine QC, refrig logs & outdate checks).
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
