About the position
The RN - Surgery at Jackson Purchase Medical Center is responsible for providing direct patient care in the operating room, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of practice. This role involves performing circulation and scrub duties during surgical procedures, assisting surgeons, and ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of patients throughout their surgical experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process.
- Perform circulation and/or scrub nurse duties in the operating room.
- Assist surgeons in various surgical procedures.
- Administer medications and perform clinical treatments as per the care plan.
- Document and plan patient care provided.
- Monitor and communicate patient conditions to the care team and family.
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as hygiene and nutrition.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to coordinate patient care and address psychosocial needs.
- Evaluate patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Current RN license in the state of KY.
- Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
- Circulating experience preferred.
- Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS (may be obtained post-hire).
