Operating on the brain requires extreme precision, and the neurosurgery team at Cleveland Clinic has years of training and experience in the most complex brain and spine surgeries. The neurosurgery team uses state-of-the-art tools to operate safely and, as often as possible, with minimally invasive techniques. This team treats a wide range of conditions affecting the brain and spine, including brain hematoma, cavernoma, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak, Chiari malformation, epilepsy, facial pain, normal pressure hydrocephalus, pseudotumor cerebri, skull base dehiscence and subdural hematoma. A caregiver in this position works 7:00am – 3:30pm or 9:00am – 7:30pm with on-call requirements.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on surgery core learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.
