The role you'll contribute: The PACU RN provides professional nursing care for the post-operative patient during Recovery Room stay and during transfer of the patient to the appropriate unit.

Requirements

BSN Required
1 Work Experience Required
Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of Texas or qualifying compact state

Nice To Haves

CPAN Certified is preferred
Experience with Adults and Peds preferred

Responsibilities

Assesses patient status upon arrival to the PACU and performs ongoing assessments, including respiratory status, O2 saturation, vital signs, dressings, output from foley and drains, and heart rhythms.
Recognizes and responds immediately to life-threatening situations according to PACU protocol.
Identifies significant changes in patient's condition, reports to anesthesia/head nurse/charge nurse or surgeon, and documents all appropriate actions.
Implements the plan of care to assist the patient in returning to the outpatient area or surgical floor unit.
