Caregivers in this specialty OR use their in-depth experience to perform complex operations with the newest surgical techniques, equipment and devices. Whether you are an experienced RN or a new graduate, all nurses entering an OR specialty unit participate in a comprehensive orientation program to ensure a smooth transition into the surgical environment. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the surgical team to deliver exceptional patient care, from the initial introduction to the final send-off. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills. A caregiver in this position will have their call and schedules assigned after orientation. Orientation is 6 months long, Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures. Perform scrub and circulating functions. Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic's Perioperative Residency Program

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within six months of hire
