An RN, Surgery Coordinator is a registered nurse, responsible for direct & indirect patient care of patients in their department. They are responsible for the daily coordination of surgical cases including planning, logistics, staffing, specific specialty needs, and instrumentation. This team member is also available during and after hours for consultation. The RN, Surgery Coordinator must demonstrate critical thinking skills to ensure proper and timely care of elective, urgent, and emergent patients entering the Operating Room. The duties and responsibilities of the RN, Surgery Coordinator are interchangeable with the other RN, Surgery Coordinator duties and responsibilities. The RN Surgical Specialty Coordinator will provide: Clinical expertise in coordinating patient care to the specialty area. Collaborate with the specialty manager and QA Education coordinator for the educational needs of the staff, physician. Coordinator case turnover and set up time. Act as a liaison between the hospital, surgeons and vendors Participate in data management and inventory control Coordination of scheduling cases with supervision of the manager Trouble shoot problems with equipment Resource person for Central Sterile. Demonstrate self-direction. Provide leadership and assume responsibility for developing and maintaining clinical expertise and professional skills. Report directly to the specialty manger of the service, Assisting with coaching and counseling with team members, and decisions that affect the overall performance and growth of the service. Required to work flexible hours to assist with daily schedule. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to individualize patient care to meet age specific needs. The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the assessment, documentation, and evaluation of the plan of care for the patient during the perioperative phase of surgery. They must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to individualize patient care to meet age specific needs. The surgery specialty coordinator works in collaboration with the medical, anesthesia, managerial, and clinical staff in order to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
