About The Position

The RN Student Summer Position at Mass General Brigham involves working under the direction of licensed personnel to assist patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. The role also includes taking patients' vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. This position is essential for providing patient care and requires effective interaction with patients and their families.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS Certification) preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) preferred.
• Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (Massachusetts) preferred.
• Nursing Assistant (LNA - New Hampshire) preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience working in patient care/elder care preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong patient/customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Perform vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
• Complete all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interact with patients and their families effectively.
• Help patients with basic hygiene tasks, including bathing and dressing.
• Assist patients in turning and repositioning themselves in bed.
• Help patients move between the bed and a wheelchair if needed.
• Listen to health concerns from patients and report those concerns to the nurses.
