About The Position

Lexington Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Stepdown ICU. This full-time position requires working the PM/N shift from 7pm to 7:30am. The hospital is recognized for its quality health services and has been ranked #1 in the Columbia metro area by U.S. News & World Report. The role involves utilizing the nursing process to promote and restore patients' health, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, and providing both physical and psychological support to patients and their families. The nurse will also supervise assigned team members and ensure that all responsibilities align with the hospital's mission and standards.

Requirements

  • ADN, Diploma, or Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.
  • Current RN license to practice in the State of South Carolina.
  • No minimum years of experience required, but critical care units may not consider new graduates without experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Critical Care, Medical/Surgical, Intermediate, or Emergency Department units.
  • Completion of LMC's Nurse Residency Program.

Responsibilities

  • Establish positive rapport with patients and families.
  • Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
  • Promote patient independence by establishing care goals and providing education.
  • Serve as patient/family advocate.
  • Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Use critical-thinking to guide data gathering, assessment, and evaluation.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Utilize ethical decision-making processes.
  • Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Document all patient care activities accurately and timely.
  • Ensure operation of equipment and manage nursing supplies.
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork skills.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through education.
