About The Position

The RN Staff Nurse in the ICU at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital is responsible for providing specialized and complex patient care in a critical care setting. This role involves monitoring and managing critical patients, administering medications and treatments, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans. The nurse will also communicate with patients and their families, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and mentor new nursing staff.

Requirements

• Current California Registered Nurse License required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS Certification required.
• Minimum of two years acute care experience, with one being in ICU preferred.
• Ability to interpret EKG monitors required.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing required.

Responsibilities

• Providing specialized and complex patient care in the intensive care unit.
• Monitoring and managing critical patients, including those on life support.
• Administering medications, treatments, and procedures as ordered by the physician.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Documenting patient care and maintaining accurate medical records.
• Communicating with patients and their families to provide education and emotional support, and discharge planning.
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives and promoting patient safety.
• Mentoring and training new nursing staff.
• Maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
