About The Position

A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Health is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient. The position requires adherence to the NCBON RN Nursing Laws and Rules and involves various responsibilities including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, collaboration, teaching, counseling, and managing nursing care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
  • Current, unrestricted North Carolina RN licensure or Multi-State Nursing Compact Licensure.
  • BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward.
  • Basic de-escalation training within 6 months of hire.
  • Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within 6 months of hire and then annually thereafter.
  • A pediatric educational course specific to assessment, recognition, and stabilization of emergency conditions is required within 12 months and maintained going forward.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an Accredited four year Nursing Program (BSN).
  • One year medical/surgical acute care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Determines assessment and collects, verifies, and interprets data in relation to health.
  • Formulates nursing diagnosis.
  • Identifies patient's needs and determines priorities of nursing diagnosis, nursing care goals, and appropriate interventions.
  • Develops a plan of care and implements it, including procuring resources.
  • Assigns, delegates, and supervises licensed and unlicensed personnel.
  • Evaluates both effectiveness of nursing interventions and achievement of expected outcomes.
  • Modifies the plan of care as necessary.
  • Communicates and works cooperatively with individuals whose services may affect patient's health care.
  • Initiates, coordinates, plans, and implements nursing care of the patient within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Responsible for teaching and counseling clients, families, and groups.
  • Identifies learning needs and develops and evaluates teaching plans.
  • Makes referrals to appropriate resources.
  • Manages nursing care and supervises, teaches, and evaluates nursing personnel.
  • Reports and records nursing services.
  • Accepts responsibility for self and actively participates in performance improvement.
