JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 32 Summary of the Job : Act as a consultant to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and reassess the care of patients with gastrointestinal and genitourinary stomas, continence disorders, acute/chronic wounds, fistulas and pressure injury prevention. Activities include, but are not limited to, use of the nursing process in the utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care as it relates to the specific needs of the patient. Provide physical, emotional, and social rehabilitation of patients and their family/caregiver. Have an understanding of wound/ostomy care concepts and use of special modalities related to both. RN works within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follows hospital policies and procedures. The RN also complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed Board Certified Nursing Program.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience as a Registered Nurse and generalized knowledge/experience with wound and/or ostomy care required.
  • Current LA RN Licensure and Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
  • Proficient use of electronic medical record and use of equipment for clinical photo documentation, excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective teaching skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited Wound Ostomy Continence (WOC) program preferred
  • Current WOC certification or Wound Certification preferred.
  • Previous wound and/or ostomy experience in an acute or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is encouraged.
  • Wound and/or Ostomy Certification encouraged.
