About the position

The RN Specialty OB Float Call Position is responsible for delivering patient care in the obstetrical department, coordinating medical plans, and maintaining nursing standards. This role involves triaging, assisting in labor and delivery, and performing circulating and scrub duties for C-sections. The nurse will guide other personnel and ensure compliance with departmental policies while providing age-appropriate care. The position requires a commitment to a 4-day work week with on-call responsibilities, including evening and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care for assigned patients during specific shifts.
• Coordinate all aspects of the medical plan and nursing standards of care.
• Perform triage, labor and delivery, and assist in C-section procedures as a circulator and scrub nurse.
• Direct and guide the activities of other personnel in the department.
• Assess patient data and interpret information to identify patient needs based on age-specific requirements.
• Maintain compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Nursing Degree (ADN or Diploma).
• Current and valid Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a Compact state.
• Relias basic fetal monitoring certification prior to coming off orientation.
• ACLS certification prior to coming off orientation.
• NRP certification prior to coming off orientation.
• BLS certification.
• Minimum of one year of RN experience.
• Clinical competence as an OR circulator and scrub for C-section procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Completion of annual Augusta Health education requirements and unit competencies.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
• Familiarity with current Standards of AWHONN.
• Familiarity with accrediting body standards applicable to daily work practices.
