Requirements

  • Accredited Program: Nursing
  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
  • Registered Nurse License (Compact RN Multistate or State of Florida)
  • One (1) year of nursing experience
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Decisive judgment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate (Required for those RNs administering chemotherapy)
  • APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card (Required within 12 months of hire for those RNs administering chemotherapy for oncologic indication within the pediatric setting)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op and Specialty Procedural areas; newly licensed RNs have six months to obtain)
  • PALS (Required for Pediatric areas with the exception of NICU; if RN is coming from a non-pediatric background, they have 30 days from date of hire to obtain; newly licensed RNs have six months to obtain)
  • NRP certification (Required for NICU; if RN is coming from a non NICU background, they have 30 days from date of hire to obtain)
  • Certification in Fetal Monitoring through National Credential Center or through AWOHNN (Intermediate or Advanced) (Required for L&D RNs prior to completion of job orientation)
  • One (1) year of RN independent practice not inclusive of nurse orientation (Required for RN Fellowship Program)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual and, or psychosocial support needs.
  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Evaluates learning needs of the patient and, or family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
