About The Position

This is a per diem/casual, non-benefited position working a 12-hr varied scheduled. There are currently two openings: Evenings: start times range from 1000, 1100, 1200 & 1400 Nights: 1900-0730 Training will consist of 6 orientation shifts: 3 on days for first week, 3 on nights for second week. Weekends are required on a rotating basis, generally 2 weekend shifts per month. Located in La Jolla at the Torrey Pines Clinic. Why join Scripps Health? What you'll do: Hands-on experience with a wide variety of emergency patients. An array of education opportunities and are actively involved in process improvements. Perform patient assessments and care tasks, including emergency procedures and medication administration as appropriate. Educate patients and document patient interactions. Practice infection control. Contribute to the team as necessary to ensure quality patient care within your own scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Registered Nursing Degree from an Accredited School of Nursing
  • Active California RN license
  • American Heart Association BLS, ACLS and PALS Healthcare Provider Certifications
  • 1 year of recent adult emergency services experience
  • Be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate positive behaviors

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • CEN – Certified Emergency Nursing
  • Recent and/or extensive ED experience as an RN

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments and care tasks, including emergency procedures and medication administration as appropriate.
  • Educate patients and document patient interactions.
  • Practice infection control.
  • Contribute to the team as necessary to ensure quality patient care within your own scope of practice.
