Requirements

  • Active NH Registered Nurse license or compact state Registered Nurse license.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient, in support of HCA ethical principles and values.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality, privacy, and functions to meet patients right to be informed.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills, scientific judgement and leadership in planning for the care of the patient.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of normal anatomy and physiology of the adult patient population as well as age adjusted and culturally appropriate care.
  • Provide safe medication administration for the adult patient population.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document all aspects of patient care.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to unlicensed personnel and provide required supervision as needed.
  • Collaborate with all health care providers and interdisciplinary team serving as the primary coordinator to facilitate and coordinate efficient, effective, and quality healthcare.
  • Communicate patient progress towards the outcome attainment and assist providers and team during treatment/examination of patient and process orders.
  • Make appropriate and timely notification to providers on patient condition changes and carry out provider orders.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate effectively patient condition as appropriate, utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Instruct and educate patients and families providing age and culturally appropriate care.
  • Function as an effective team member and/or charge RN when needed, orient and mentor new staff members.
  • Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Maintain competencies in clinical areas and is responsible for professional growth and development.
  • Attend Unit Meetings as directed by the Nurse Manager/Director and participate in continuing education programs and quality assurance programs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in the care of procedural patients, stroke and trauma patients, cardiovascular disease, patient control analgesia (PCAs), epidural and nerve blocks, subdural and ventricular drains, NIH stroke scale, titrating IV medications and arterial lines.
