Job Summary: Observes, evaluates, and coordinates the care given to patients in the Special Procedures department. Participates in direct and indirect care of all related activities according to the policies, procedures, philosophy and mission of the organization.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS): Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
  • Registered Nurse experience with critical care experience or medical-surgical or experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab/Special Procedure department: Preferred
  • Advanced Electrocardiogram (EKG) certification: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation.
  • Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues.
  • Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes.
  • Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
  • Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes.
  • Identifies outcomes for the patient or the patient’s situation.
  • Connect electrocardiogram (EKG) leads and alerts doctor of any changes in patient condition.
  • Records analyzes hemodynamic parameters and calculates shunt and valves and other data.
  • Monitors patient, analyzes electrocardiogram (EKG) and hemodynamic parameter and reports to physician any changes in patient’s condition.
  • Operates computerized MIDAS system with accuracy and evaluates and reports significant data and findings throughout all procedures for all patients of various age groups.
  • Operates other specialized equipment: Datascope Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Baxter Cardiac Output, Automated Coagulation Timer (ACT) machine, American Optical Unistat Oximeter, Medrad injector, Life Pak, Defibrillator, Sony digital systems, GE Advantx X-ray system.
  • Collaborates with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment.
  • Provides learning opportunities for patients/family members and team members.
  • Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
