This position plays a vital role in assuming primary responsibility for and provides direct and indirect professional nursing care to patients in the Recovery, Pre-operation and Post-operation areas of Oregon Health & Sciences University, South Perioperative Services Division. The Perioperative Services use a primary practice model of care, Primary practice, phase I and II recovery. The Registered Nurse (RN) assesses patient's needs, develops the plan of care, implements and evaluates nursing care, provides education and consultation of staff, students, patients and the community. The South Perianesthesia Unit is a department within Perioperative Services within the Nursing Division. There are 25 operating rooms within the surgical department that function 24/7. The mission of the department is to provide exemplary, cost-effective care to the surgical patient, and to serve as a role model for surgical patient care in the Pacific Northwest. This position requires working/floating within the perioperative services units.
