About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) – SICU provides high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill post-surgical patients. The RN is responsible for continuous monitoring, assessment, and management of patients requiring intensive care following complex surgical procedures. This role requires strong critical-thinking skills, advanced clinical expertise, and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (State-specific or Compact)
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU or SICU experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience

Nice To Haves

  • Cerner experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill surgical patients in the SICU
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic status, ventilators, and invasive lines
  • Administer medications, IV drips, blood products, and titrate medications as ordered
  • Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and emergencies
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Provide patient and family education and emotional support
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based education
