About the Role As the RN Shift Unit Supervisor , you will serve as the on-shift leadership presence for the Acute Care and Emergency Department units. You will oversee daily operations, guide and support staff, and help ensure every patient receives safe, effective, and compassionate care. This position combines clinical expertise, problem solving, and team coordination in a fast paced and rewarding environment.

Requirements

  • Current Montana RN license (or compact license with Montana authorization).
  • One year of current experience in the higher acuity setting covered by this role.
  • At least one year of leadership experience in any capacity.
  • Strong clinical knowledge, critical thinking abilities, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn additional software systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Charge Nurse or Nurse Supervisor experience preferred but not required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • National specialty certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assume a visible leadership role during assigned shifts.
  • Oversee daily operations for Acute Care and Emergency Department units.
  • Provide real time support, coaching, and guidance to nursing and support staff.
  • Lead and participate in performance evaluations and ongoing employee feedback.
  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of patient care and clinical decision making.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines.
  • Coordinate safe staffing based on acuity, productivity, and skill mix.
  • Assign patient care responsibilities appropriately and delegate effectively.
  • Partner closely with unit leadership to maintain safe, efficient work environments.
  • Document and communicate shift activities including safety issues, care concerns, staffing variances, and exceptional teamwork.
  • Act as a resource for staff and advocate for continuous improvement and professional nursing practice.
