The RN Scribe for Endoscopy accompanies the physician and directly observes patient procedures, occasionally assisting with patient care. The role involves accurately documenting events and decision-making to ensure appropriate procedure charting, which includes physical exams, diagnostic findings, lab and test results, consultations with other providers, diagnoses, discharge instructions, and prescriptions. The RN Scribe will also complete clerical activities necessary for processing physician orders for tests and medications, assist with the preparation of patient medical records pre-operatively, and respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols. Participation in department or unit quality improvement activities is expected, and the RN Scribe may be required to float to other areas of Surgical Services to assist as needed.
