UnityPoint-St. Luke's is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to provide and coordinate nursing care for patients. The role involves participating in patient and family teaching and providing leadership while working with other health team members to establish and maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. The nurse will also participate in unit-based shared leadership activities aimed at improving the quality of care provided to patients and enhancing the work environment.

  • Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making the necessary referrals to provide continuity of care.
  • Develops an individual plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and health care team.
  • Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient's care.
  • Delegates and provides direction for other healthcare providers and holds them accountable for their involvement in the plan of care.
  • Assesses and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to the patient's and their families' age specific needs, culture, gender, readiness to learn and level of comprehension.
  • Consults appropriate resources within the hospital to provide specialized education.
  • Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
  • Graduate from an approved nursing program.
  • 3-5 Years Critical Care experience preferred.
  • Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within 30 days from date of hire.
  • Advanced Coronary Life Support (ACLS) certification or obtain within six (6) months from hire.
  • PALS Certification or obtain within (6) months from hire.
  • Must obtain and maintain NIHSS education within 90 days of hire and maintain every 2 years thereafter.
  • Completion of 8 hours of Stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually.
  • TNCC certification within 2 years.
