The Registered Nurse Resident position provides a transition between nursing school and bedside nursing in an acute care setting. The residency is a planned and comprehensive period during which RNs can acquire the knowledge and skills to deliver safe, quality care in the clinical setting. It is intended to fill the gap between practice expectations taught in school and the actual requirements of practicing nurses. Residents receive classroom instruction, skills and simulation labs, and debriefing and mentoring sessions. The preceptorship provides for clinical experience under the supervision of an experienced RN Preceptor. After successful completion of this Residency period, will have an opportunity to apply for available positions within St. Charles Health System. The Registered Nurse Resident, will provide specific care to assigned patient(s) throughout the shift, as required under the scope of the RN licensure and under the direction of a RN preceptor.
