About The Position

The Resident Care Director is responsible for ensuring the general wellbeing of geriatric residents through the delivery of high-quality services in a manner that is consistent with the assisted living philosophy. The Resident Care Director will establish procedures, objectives, and work standards and is responsible for the management and supervision of the direct care staff and aspects of care activities of all staff. This position is responsible for quality care and for providing a “system of care” for residents in a manner and environment that provides dignity and respect in full recognition of each resident’s individuality.

Requirements

  • Education: Requires at least an associate degree from an approved school of nursing.
  • Licensure/ Certification: Current licensure as Registered Nurse with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of pervious work experience in senior living.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care management services to residents, ensuring the completion of pre-admission assessment, reassessment, and the negotiated service plan.
  • Evaluates and assists in developing individual resident care plans.
  • Helps coordinate admissions and orientation of new residents to the facility.
  • Identifies safety hazards and institutes corrective action in a timely manner. Shares in the responsibility for providing and maintaining an environment that ensures the safety, physical and emotional well being of resident and staff.
  • Ensures quality control of the nursing services, including MARs, physician orders, and narcotic logs.
  • Reviews special health care documents and signs off (quarterly).
  • Monitors and maintains records reflecting the health and mental status of residents and reports any changes in condition to his/her physician, in a timely manner.
  • Monitors medication regimen and resident’s response and makes recommendations to physician.
  • Works with pharmacy consultant to ensure the appropriate handling, dispensing, and destruction of medications.
  • Develops program/systems, which ensure that resident’s rights and requests are honored.
  • Investigates and documents resident and employee incidents and forwards daily to the Administrator.
  • Coordinates residency termination, discharge and transfers with Social Services Coordinator.
  • Observes and may assist in direct resident care, when necessary.
  • Serves as liaison between the community, residents, families, and physicians.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and is accountable for formulating and implementing any changes and corrections for any cited deficiencies.
  • Supervises all outside private duty and home health nursing care.
  • Coordinates with the dietary department to ensure that appropriate meals are served to the residents.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining CAL nursing budget.
  • Ensures CAL nursing payroll is accurate and timely.
  • Directs communication throughout CAL nursing department through monthly staff meetings, coachings, formal disciplinary process, performance evaluations, written directives, etc.
  • Develops and implements nursing protocols and systems to improve quality care as identified through QA committees.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
