The Hematology Oncology unit is a 24-bed unit that includes 6 stepdown beds, located on the 5th floor of the new patient bed tower. We see a wide variety of blood cancers from Acute Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma. The length of stay for these patients is much longer than other in-patient units. This allows us the opportunity to get to know our patients and their family. We treat a wide range of ages from late adolescent to late adults. OU is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI) – Designated Cancer Center in the state of Oklahoma. General Description: An OU Health Registered Nurse (RN) II works under general supervision and provides nursing care in a hospital setting to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. They are a critical link within their department in maintaining and modeling nursing practice standards and upholding the nursing code of ethics to ensure the highest quality of safe, patient care.
