About The Position

Beebe Healthcare is growing, and our Specialty Surgical Hospital is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse II to support high-quality surgical and orthopedic care across both our Rehoboth Surgical Unit and the Lewes Orthopedic Unit. This is a full-time, night shift position, ideal for nurses who bring compassion, teamwork, and strong clinical judgment to every shift and thrive in a collaborative care environment. In this flexible, hands-on role, you’ll care for post-surgical and orthopedic patients, complete thorough assessments, implement timely interventions, and collaborate closely with our interdisciplinary team. You’ll play a key role in supporting safe recovery, patient education, and exceptional outcomes. Nurses in this position will be trained and competent to rotate between both units, ensuring seamless, high-quality patient care systemwide.

Requirements

  • Acute care/hospital experience
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and EMR skills
  • DE or Compact RN license
  • BLS and NIH Stroke Certification
  • ACLS (within 6 months of hire)
  • RN, Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Nice To Haves

  • Orthopedic Nurse Certification (ONC) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient-centered nursing care to post-surgical and orthopedic patients, ensuring comfort, safety, and optimal recovery outcomes.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor patient status, and promptly communicate changes to the appropriate members of the healthcare team.
  • Prioritize patient care responsibilities effectively using strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and time management skills.
  • Adapt quickly to changing patient needs in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Accurately document patient care, assessments, and interventions in the electronic medical record.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, infection prevention guidelines, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe care environment.
  • Educate patients and families on post-operative care, medications, mobility, and recovery expectations.
  • Support confident discharge planning by reinforcing instructions and ensuring understanding.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately and provide supervision, guidance, and support to nursing assistants and other support staff.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
  • Participate in unit-based councils, shared governance activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical competency and support evidence-based practice.
