General Description: Under general supervision, provides PICC Line Placement and Infusion education in the PICC program. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Consults on special patient cases where a need for PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) Line placement and instruction has been identified Establishes a treatment plan for patients and their families to follow Serves as a resource person for medical and hospital staff regarding PICC placement and education. Consults with healthcare team on complication management Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician order on assigned patients Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary Interacts with family and patient regarding care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge Informs patient and family of hospital procedures Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel General Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned
