About The Position

The position is within the Ground Transport department at Ascension Via Christi St Francis in Wichita, KS. The schedule is PRN with rotating shifts, including 7A-7P or 7P-7A, and may include nights or days based on need. A minimum of one 12-hour shift per pay period is required, along with rotating weekends and holidays. The role involves providing high-quality patient care during transport between facilities, performing assessments and stabilization of patients, and ensuring quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards. The position may also require driving an ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies.

Requirements

  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification obtained within six months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification specializing in ER Vehicle Operation preferred.
  • Drivers License preferred.
  • Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) preferred.
  • Paramedic preferred.
  • Certified Prehospital Trauma Life Support preferred.
  • 2 years ICU or ED experience.
  • EMS background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality patient care in conjunction with fellow team members during transport between facilities.
  • Perform assessment and stabilization of patients as well as any necessary diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
  • Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments by collaborating with team members and multidisciplinary members.
  • Participate in decision-making and partner with the multidisciplinary team to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Complete all appropriate medical documentation.
  • May be required to drive an ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies.
