About The Position

The position is located in the Main Hospital PACU department at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham. It is a PRN role with a schedule from 8 AM to 8:30 PM, requiring call but no holidays or weekends except for call. The role involves providing direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period, following aseptic sterile techniques according to AORN/ASPAN standards, evaluating patient responses to treatments, managing pain, and anticipating case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedures and pathophysiology.

Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
• Professional licensure at time of hire required.
• One year of nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.
• Follow aseptic sterile technique according to AORN/ASPAN standards.
• Evaluate patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
• Manage patient's pain.
• Anticipate case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.
