About The Position

This position is responsible for analyzing and synthesizing data to maximize its utilization in clinical decision-making, business, and strategic initiatives. The role coordinates educational activities for orientation and ongoing training. The Program Specialist will establish close working relationships with clinical and non-clinical partners to promote optimal patient care through clinical activities and data analysis. Key responsibilities include possessing working knowledge of data collection, submission, and documentation regulations, gathering and analyzing stakeholder feedback, and disseminating results. The specialist will also help analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decisions on resolutions. A strong clinical background is essential, along with the ability to effectively educate others and communicate verbally and in writing. The role requires independent planning and scheduling of daily workload, adaptability to change, strong public relations skills, time management, and positive personal relations. The individual must communicate effectively across all organizational levels and functions, build and maintain internal and external working relationships, resolve conflicts, and problem-solve effectively. The specialist is expected to work independently while maintaining accountability to the department and organization, be proficient in computer software, and demonstrate high personal and professional commitments. Other related duties may be assigned for program needs. Certain program objectives may be grant-focused, involving grant administration responsibilities such as assisting the project team in post-award activities, maintaining grant and contract files, reviewing contracts, developing progress reports, and reviewing closed grants for completeness. Effective grant management, project management, prioritization, planning, organization, and presentation skills are required for grant-related duties. Specific program responsibilities will be detailed in department-specific documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Minimum of three years’ clinical experience related to specialty, e.g. trauma, oncology, research, critical care
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications related to specialty
  • Strong clinical background
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
  • Able to adapt in a changing environment
  • Possesses strong public relations skills, time management skills, and positive personal relations
  • Proficient in computer software
  • Demonstrate high personal and professional commitments

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA)
