About The Position

Fairview Health Services is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Ambulatory Surgery Center team located in Maple Grove, MN. The RN will work in the preop, postop and PACU for operative and procedural patients. This is a 0.6 FTE position that is benefit eligible. This person will be Rotating 8 hour shifts within the hours of operations at the Surgery Center 5:30am-4pm Shift start time vary based on need. Fairview Maple Grove Ambulatory Surgery Center is a partnership with University of MN Physicians where you will find more than 20 medical specialties in one convenient location. Our patients have access to primary and specialty care for pediatrics and adults which also includes a cancer center, breast center and the ambulatory surgery center. The center has four ORs, four procedure rooms, seven PACU bays, and 20 pre/post operative rooms. Responsibilities Job Description The primary function of the Pre-Op/PACU Nurse is that of a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability through the nursing process, for the pre and post procedural care of patients and significant others in collaboration with other health care providers. Possesses knowledge of and ability to perform duties in accordance with established Standards for the PeriAnesthesia (Pre-Op/PACU) Unit. Monitors patient's airway and circulation with the assistance of applied monitoring equipment. Adheres to strict Universal Precautions and blood borne Pathogen Policy. Verifies patient ID and procedure to be performed. Prepares patient for monitoring during procedure. Monitors patient airway and circulation. Manages monitoring equipment, fluid lines, tubes, drains and catheters as needed. Possess knowledge of anesthetic agents, techniques, actions and interactions for patients of all ages. Demonstrates skills and knowledge in IV therapy, medication administration and effects. Administers IV medications as per doctor order. Insures proper labeling and documentation of patient specimens. Demonstrates skills in patient assessment, airway maintenance, and dysrhythmia detection and treatment.

Requirements

  • Licensed as an RN
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PALS (upon 6 months of hire)
  • 2-years of peri-anesthesia or PACU experience or procedural experience
  • EKG interpretation
  • IV starts
  • Difficult and oral airways
