About The Position

The Nurse at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice provides both routine and complex care to patients in a clinical setting, focusing on the needs of soon-to-be moms, laboring moms, and new parents. This role requires independent practice, critical thinking, and the ability to manage clinical situations effectively. Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• RN License in state of employment or compact required.
• Current certification from NCC in Electronic Fetal Monitoring or AWHONN courses required at the time of hire for experienced nurses.
• Current STABLE certification required at the time of hire for experienced nurses.
• Current ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire for experienced nurses.
• Current NRP certification required at time of hire for experienced nurses.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a Perinatal RN Residency or practicing in a Perinatal Setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients and caregivers.
• Plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care and functions during assigned shifts.
• Anticipates and plans for admission, discharge, and transfer needs to facilitate patient flow.
• Educates and trains others on operations, ethics, and regulations within the industry.
