About The Position

Texas Health Allen is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) / Step-Down. This position is full-time, working nights from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, totaling 36 hours per week with rotating weekends and holidays required. The IMC Unit provides critical/progressive level of care for a mixed patient population with a nurse to patient ratio of 3:1 or 4:1 depending on acuity. The unit is committed to creating a patient-centered environment while fostering positive teamwork among its experienced and compassionate staff.

Requirements

• Diploma of Nursing OR Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) required
• BSN preferred
• 1 Year Experience as a registered nurse or completion of RN residency program required
• 2 years’ experience as a registered nurse or 6 months Critical Care experience preferred
• Current RN licensure upon hire required
• BCLS—Basic Cardiac Life Support—Prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support - Required within 90 days of hire
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - Required within 60 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
