Requirements

  • At least 2 years of Registered Nurse work experience in a hospital setting.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
  • Experience in Infection Prevention and Joint Commission and DOH surveys.

Responsibilities

  • Support the goals and objectives of the organization in efforts to provide safe, quality patient care.
  • Assist with coordinating inpatient Infection Prevention and Control activities.
  • Collaborate with medical staff from all healthcare facilities within the system.
  • Assist the processes and goals of the Infection Control Program under supervision.
  • Coordinate and participate in the development and implementation of Infection Control Programs.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve infection prevention and control practices.
  • Provide education to assure the effectiveness of the Infection Control Program.
  • Coordinate rounds in all patient care areas.
  • Recommend changes in patient care and department specific education about infection control practices.
  • Assist with implementation of hospital-wide infection control activities.
  • Serve as a resource person for Infection Control initiatives.
  • Identify and record hospital acquired infections (HAIs) per Act 52 requirements.
  • Understand and communicate Joint Commission and other governing body requirements.
  • Actively participate in all surveys.
  • Develop, review and revise infection control policies and procedures.
  • Participate in surveillance activities to identify unusual epidemic situations.
  • Collaborate with community health agencies and other institutions.
  • Assist Public Health authorities in the investigation of reportable infections.
  • Participate in continuing education programs to expand knowledge.
  • Develop and maintain expertise related to the CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) reporting criteria.
  • Perform concurrent and retrospective medical record review.
