The Aultman Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse that provides direct, primary nursing care to patients/residents. The RN delegates and coordinates patient care, based upon a documented assessment of the patient's/resident's needs. The RN supervises the care provided by individuals such as licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians/state tested nursing assistants/nurse aides, medical assistants, and etc., if applicable. The ADHVH Float RN is designed to float between designated units of the Heart and Vascular Hospital. All nurses attend Critical Care Classes sponsored by the Education and Development Department and complete a unit-specific orientation program when oriented to both the ICU and SD level of care. The bedside nurse is expected to assess and treat hemodynamic, invasive and non-invasive monitoring. The Float RN is designed to care for the adult surgical cardiothoracic, vascular and post-procedure Structural Heart patient as well as provides thoracic and vascular post anesthesia recovery care within the Cardiovascular Surgical ICU (CVSICU) The Float RN is designed to provide assessment, care, and treatment to both stable and the acutely ill medical cardiac patient within the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) All nurses complete annual hospital and unit-specific competency. Device-specific classes will also be completed on-site.
