About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Birthing Center at Ascension Borgess involves providing professional nursing care to patients during labor and delivery. The role emphasizes the application of specialized nursing knowledge and skills to ensure quality care, patient rights, and privacy. The RN will collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to set mutual goals and evaluate nursing care outcomes, while adhering to established nursing standards and practices.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hire.
  • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation within 90 days of hire.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse within 90 days of hire.
  • Certification in S.T.A.B.L.E. Program within 12 months of hire.
  • Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring within 18 months for Labor & Delivery nurses.
  • Associates of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS) or Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) or RN Diploma required at start date; BSN required within six years.
  • Minimum of 1 year labor and delivery experience or 1 year of SCN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care within Borgess Medical Center.
  • Apply specialized knowledge and skills in the care, treatment, and health teaching of patients.
  • Recognize and respect each patient's unique needs and rights to quality nursing care.
  • Facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health through the nursing process.
  • Collaborate with patients and healthcare teams to identify mutual goals based on nursing assessments.
  • Diagnose, treat, and evaluate human responses to health problems.
  • Assess, monitor, and prevent complications associated with health situations or treatment plans.
  • Notify physicians of patient conditions and document nursing interventions appropriately.
  • Ensure effective pain management for patients and document assessments and treatments.
  • Delegate tasks to other licensed and unlicensed care providers based on clinical judgment.
