About The Position

Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical, and psycho-social sciences, utilizes judgment supported by evidence and nursing theory in the delivery of nursing care. Provides, coordinates and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources in the delivery of care for patients, the family of patients and the community, with the goal of attaining, maintaining and restoring optimum health. Supports the staffing of Inpatient Critical Care units and Progressive Care units across Summa Health Akron and Barberton Campuses. Supplement staffing in other areas as needed according to skill and competency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; applicants with an Associate's degree will be considered but must obtain BSN within three years of employment.
  • Graduate of a program of professional nursing accredited by CCNE or ACEN.
  • Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio.
  • One year of related RN experience required for the specialty in which the Regional Float Pool RN is primarily assigned.
  • Must complete specialty-specific competency based orientation pathway.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or irregular hours.
  • Requires exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, and other potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support certification; additional certifications required for specialty areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, Critical Care, and Behavioral Health specialty areas.
