About The Position

The Quality Professional is a Registered Nurse with recent clinical experience in acute care services that functions as a reviewer, abstractor of data, and support for Clinical and Medical Staff Quality committees and various departments of the organization in quality improvement efforts. This position reports to the System Director for Quality, Safety, and Clinical Risk.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or health-related field (will consider candidates actively pursuing this degree on an individual basis).
  • Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience, with knowledge of pathophysiology, treatment of disease and patient management (required).
  • Registered Nurse licensed in State of New York (required).
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of hospital personnel and external parties
  • Comfort with an interdisciplinary culture of collaboration
  • A passion for excellence, which elevates the abilities and competencies of the various patient care providers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Infection Control protocols and regulatory standards
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist and reach
  • Moderate lifting – 15-44 lbs.
  • Patients served by direct or indirect patient care – Infants (Birth-11months); Child (12months-12 yrs); Adolescent (13-19yrs); Young Adult (20-40yrs); Middle Adult (41-65yrs); Older Adult (>65yrs)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Quality Management, Performance Improvement and Utilization Management requirements and methodologies; including data abstraction and analysis (preferred).
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Identification and reporting of NYPORTS events to the Department of Health, and conducting Root Cause Analysis including interviewing involved person(s), literature searches and completing the Framework.
  • Data abstraction, analysis and reporting of information to the appropriate departments/meetings.
  • Analyzing and interpreting data and assisting physicians, hospital directors, Administration and others in decision-making based on that data.
  • Recognizing trends and trackable events, and reporting identified information to the appropriate leaders.
  • Concurrent and retrospective monitoring and assessing the quality of care delivered by physicians, nurses and ancillary support services using specific approved criteria.
  • Recognizing potential variances in care and coordinating peer reviews.
  • Conducting, coordinating and facilitating Root Cause Analysis and Failure Modes Effect Analysis.
  • Functioning as a team member and supporting Quality and Performance Improvement activities throughout the organization.
  • Maintaining a high degree of accuracy, recognizing patterns and trends in events and reporting identified information to the appropriate leaders.
