About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. The role involves delivering expert, evidence-based nursing care to patients and families, implementing and evaluating care plans, administering medications and blood products safely, and managing the care environment. The RN will also assess and incorporate educational and psychosocial needs into patient care, respond to emergencies, maintain certifications, and work collaboratively as part of the healthcare team. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Evidence of continuing education.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic nursing process.
  • ACLS and BLS certification.
  • Telemetry experience required.
  • Current RN License, Massachusetts.
  • Vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • PCU/Step Down experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers expert, evidence-based nursing care to patients and families.
  • Implements the nursing process by assessing patient and family needs and by analyzing assessment data to develop and support clinically accurate diagnoses.
  • Plans care by establishing goals with measurable outcomes.
  • Implements the plan of care and evaluates the patient’s response.
  • Documents care according to the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth policy and to regulatory agency requirements.
  • Administers medications, and performs procedures safely and efficiently according to policy.
  • Administers blood and blood products according to policy.
  • Evaluates educational and psychosocial needs of the patient and family.
  • Incorporates needs into the plan of care.
  • Manages the environment of care.
  • Recognizes and responds to emergency situations appropriately.
  • Maintains ACLS and BLS certification.
  • Identifies appropriate community resources to promote continuity of care, and make appropriate referrals.
  • Works collaboratively and functions as an effective member of the health care team.
  • Conducts bedside shift report, with fellow nursing staff and hourly rounding.
