Akron General's Transitional Care Unit is converting to a Level II Progressive Care Unit, where caregivers will be able to provide a new, higher level of intermediate care to our patients. The patient population in this unit will consist of non-invasive BIPAP, continuous pulse ox monitoring, insulin and cardiac/vasoactive GTTs, chronic trach ventilators, acute stroke patients, subarachnoid spinal drains, transvenous pacers and arterial waveform monitoring. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within one year of hire
  • One year of current ICU or critical care RN experience in a hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Complete ongoing assessments.
  • Recognize significant changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
  • Develop and update goals for identified problems.
  • Involve the patient/family (or designee) in developing a plan of care individualized to patient cultural, religious and educational needs.
  • Coordinate the interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Serve as a patient advocate.
  • Safely administer patient care, medications and treatments.
  • Document legibly using concise terms, correct terminology and approved abbreviations.
  • Participate in on-going interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes and contribute to the improvement of care.
  • Delegate tasks/assignments to employees according to their ability and within the scope of their job.
