About The Position

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Generalist uses the tools, theories, skills and knowledge of the specialty to improve the healthcare practice of nursing and allied staff. The NPD Generalist uses expertise in education and professional development practices, the NPD Generalist (NPD-G) functions in collaboration with staff, leadership, faculty and researchers to develop, implement and evaluate professional development programs that influence professional role competence, continuous learning and growth. Promote synergistic practices and patient outcomes throughout the organization, and advances and leads NPD practice based on the Beaumont Health Nursing Professional Practice Model and in accordance with Association Nursing Professional Development Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing Development Practice. The role involves using a systematic approach to analyze issues, forecast trends, and support data to determine the learning needs of individuals, service lines, and organizations. It includes collecting data from various sources, designing and implementing educational activities, engaging stakeholders, evaluating nursing practices, and participating in professional role development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Michigan Upon Hire required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Emergency experience preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Board Cert Nursing Professional Development (BC-NPD) - ANCC preferred.
  • Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS INSTR) - AHA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Uses a systematic approach to analyze issues and forecast trends to determine learning needs.
  • Collects data systematically from various sources including direct observation and professional organizations.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates high-quality educational activities based on identified knowledge and practice gaps.
  • Engages stakeholders in planning and implementing lifelong learning activities.
  • Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices in collaboration with others.
  • Participates in professional role development and practice role transitions.
  • Serves as an influential leader in inter-professional learning and practice change.
  • Conducts and participates in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement.
  • Integrates ethics in the use and handling of educational program records.
  • Works collaboratively with leaders and experts to meet organizational goals.
  • Works to achieve staff retention and employee engagement.
