A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients under the supervision of a physician. The responsibility of the procedure nurse is to closely monitor patients before, during, and after invasive and noninvasive procedures. The procedure nurse is responsible coordinating procedure time and scheduling. They are also responsible for conducting an initial and ongoing assessment designed to gather data relevant to the patients individual needs and age group. The procedure nurse will be responsible for starting IVs, administrating medications, drawing lab work, taking patient history and performing patient assessments. Must be able to recognize risks and complications related to procedures through knowledge of physical assessment. The responsibility of the procedure nurse is to closely monitor patients before, during, and after invasive and noninvasive procedures. When not working in procedure area the nurse will assist providers and staff in the department within the patient care tasks or other duties as assigned.
