About The Position

A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients under the supervision of a physician. The responsibility of the procedure nurse is to closely monitor patients before, during, and after invasive and noninvasive procedures.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills.
• Knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations.
• Knowledge of current trends and new developments in nursing.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of nursing applicable to areas requiring special education.
• Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
• BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.

Nice To Haves

• 1-2 years of surgical specialty procedures.
• ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate procedure time and scheduling.
• Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to gather data relevant to the patient's individual needs and age group.
• Start IVs, administer medications, draw lab work, take patient history, and perform patient assessments.
• Recognize risks and complications related to procedures through knowledge of physical assessment.
• Monitor patients closely before, during, and after invasive and noninvasive procedures.
• Assist providers and staff in the department with patient care tasks or other duties as assigned.
