About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) PRN at Palo Pinto General Hospital in the Women's Service department plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care on an as-needed basis, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to fluctuating patient volumes. The RN has the principle responsibility for the total care, assessment, planning, and implementation and evaluation of each assigned patient. Plans, provides, ad documents care and teaching rendered. Assures the plan of care is carried out in a safe environment through personal performance and supervision of subordinate personnel performance. Meets department nursing care standard through appropriate cost containment and utilization /quality mechanisms. Manages all supplies and equipment as instructed by the manufacturers. Ultimately, the RN PRN contributes to the hospital’s mission by providing compassionate, evidence-based care that supports patient well-being and recovery in a dynamic healthcare environment. This is a PRN position for nights; will fill-in when there are openings on the schedule.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
  • Must have one year of RN experience to work in a PRN position
  • Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
  • Ability to work flexible hours on an as-needed (PRN) basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Experience working in a general hospital environment or similar healthcare facility.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient and team interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and document findings accurately in medical records.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and update individualized care plans.
  • Monitor patient conditions continuously, recognizing and responding promptly to changes in health status.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care instructions.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
