About The Position

White Deer Run of Allenwood is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) for PRN opportunities across all shifts, including 2nd and 3rd shift differentials. The position offers flexibility with both 10-hour and 8-hour shifts available. We are looking for passionate individuals in the behavioral health field who are interested in growth opportunities and making a difference in the lives of individuals in our community. Our facility, located in the scenic Bald Eagle State Forest of central Pennsylvania, provides residential and detoxification services for adolescents and adults struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health concerns. We utilize evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), 12-Step recovery principles, choice theory, and motivational interviewing, ensuring personalized care from a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals. Our serene environment allows patients to focus on recovery and return to a fulfilling lifestyle free from chemical dependency. We also offer a separate, gender-specific adolescent unit with age-appropriate treatment and educational support.

Requirements

  • Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must possess a current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of employment or be eligible to practice nursing in accordance with state requirements.
  • One year of nursing experience; previous psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance abuse nursing experience is a plus.
  • CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients' physical and behavioral health needs.
  • Develop and implement nursing care plans.
  • Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined within the state Nurse Practice Act regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ensure physicians' orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy and procedure.
  • Assess patients' status on an ongoing basis and gather and document pertinent information.
  • Notify physicians of significant changes in patient status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergencies, or changes in response to medications.
  • Complete initial nursing treatment plans upon admission specific to assessed needs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and utilization of universal precautions in providing direct patient care.
  • Accurately administer medications per ordered note and document controlled substance medication administration.
  • Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately as directed.
  • Exhibit therapeutic rapport with patients by maintaining professional boundaries and respecting personal space.
  • Provide direction or coordinate the activities of the unit as directed.
  • Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, co-workers, and others involved in patient treatment.
