About The Position

Position Summary: Coordinates care for patients utilizing the surgery department. Assists each patient with all the necessary steps before and with scheduling their procedure (i.e., pre-op testing, finance/pre-authorization, medical clearance). They must be able to work well with multiple disciplines, be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and have a basic understanding of the inner workings and expectations of the operating room. Duties and Responsibilities: Assess each patient scheduled for a procedure within the OR. Updates patient's list of medications and allergies within Cerner. Compiles patient charts for next-day scheduled cases (ensures appropriate documents are contained in charts, i.e., consents, labs, EKG's, H&P's). Enters order sets as per provider preference within Cerner for each patient. Performs pre-op teaching (gives patients an idea of what to expect and what is expected from them for their procedure). Professional Requirements: Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times. Excellent attendance record. Wears appropriate clothing for job functions. Wears ID badge. Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, administration, and staff. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Utah Licensure
  • ACLS Certified (Needed within 6 Months of Start date)
  • PALS Certified (Needed within 6 Months of Start date)
  • BLS Certified (Needed within 6 Months of Start date)
  • Must be able to work well with multiple disciplines
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Must have a basic understanding of the inner workings and expectations of the operating room
